One of the oldest communities in Langford, it is easy to see why Thetis Heights remains a popular neighbourhood for young families and nature lovers. As close to the wilderness as it is to some of Langford’s best shopping, Thetis Heights is an accessible, convenient and fun neighbourhood!
Where is Thetis Heights
Thetis Heights is a small community located in the northern part of the City of Langford. It lies just fifteen kilometres from downtown Victoria, only two kilometres from downtown Langford, and is bordered by the town of View Royal.
Parks and Recreation in Thetis Heights
Just a ten-minute drive towards Langford is the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre. This public centre features a swimming pool, weight room, curling rink, arena, golf course and other recreation spaces, offering programs for all ages. This plaza is also home to the Q Centre, an arena that hosts an array of sporting events, trade shows and concerts.
If you’re looking for natural beauty, Thetis Heights has it in spades. This neighbourhood has one of the only direct pedestrian access trails to the beautiful Thetis Lake Regional Park. One of the most popular swimming spots for Victorians in the summer, this park is also a great spot to practice kayaking, canoeing, or stand-up paddle boarding. There are dog-friendly trails surrounding the lakes that cover a variety of distances, making Thetis Lake a park enjoyed by many walkers and runners alike.
Schools in Thetis Heights
Thetis Heights is a part of School District 62 Sooke. Covering the entirety of the Westshore, there are plenty of options for parents trying to identify the right school for their children. Thetis Heights is a quick walk away from Millstream Elementary, a school that covers from kindergarten to grade five and offers English as well as French immersion programs.
The nearby middle school, Spencer Middle School, offers great opportunities for children from grade 6 to 8, including the Spencer Middle School Hockey Academy, as well as offering a Gifted Program.
Belmont Secondary School also offers the Gifted Program, and offers Late Immersion, allowing students to enter the French immersion program for their final years of high school.

Thetis Lake is a name that refers to two freshwater lakes (Upper and Lower Thetis) connected by a narrow culvert in the 834-hectare (2,060-acre) Thetis Lake Regional Park outside Victoria, British Columbia, about 12 km (7.5 mi) from the city centre.
Shopping in Thetis Heights
Located just north of Millstream Village, one of the largest shopping centres in Langford, Thetis Heights is close to many of the nation’s most popular stores, including Le Chateau, Pier 1 Imports, Michaels and more! The village is also home to grocery stores, pet stores and a variety of restaurants for the whole family.
Despite its idyllic natural surroundings, Thetis Heights is an easy 20-minute drive from downtown Victoria.
Because of the rapid growth of Westshore communities in recent years, transit to and from Thetis Heights has also improved, with a number of routes leading from the neighbourhood to central Langford and connecting to downtown Victoria from there.
To skip rush-hour traffic, many commuters opt to ride their bikes downtown instead. Located just a few kilometers off of the Galloping Goose Regional Trail that winds all the way to downtown Victoria, Thetis Heights is a great neighbourhood for cycle commuters. This 60 km trail also takes cyclists as far out as Sooke on a scenic, protected pathway and makes for a great outdoor adventure as well.
With its proximity to both nature and the comforts of modernity, Thetis Heights is a long-standing neighbourhood in bustling Langford that should not be missed!
