Langford is a bustling city on the West Shore of the Greater Victoria Area. One of the fastest growing cities in the area, Langford is already home to nearly 30,000 residents. Where is Langford

The city of Langford is located roughly fifteen kilometres northwest of downtown Victoria along the Trans-Canada highway. It is part of the West Shore district of the Greater Victoria Area, and is nestled between the communities of View Royal and Colwood.

North Langford


Just moments away from mountain trails and spectacular views, North Langford is home to the neighbourhoods of Thetis Heights and Bear Mountain. Residents of North Langford have quick access to beautiful Mount Finlayson and the Malahat highway for adventures throughout Vancouver Island. North Langford is also home to Millstream Village, one of the largest shopping centres in Langford featuring some of the most popular stores in Canada.

South Langford


Home to Langford’s charming Downtown core, South Langford also includes the neighbourhoods of Happy Valley and the growing community of Westhills. Downtown Langford is a walker’s paradise! Small local businesses line the streets, and the neighbourhood often hosts city events like festivals, parades and the Goldstream Farmer’s Market. Further from the hustle and bustle, Westhills and Happy Valley are nestled among Langford’s many lakes, and mix the beauty of rural living with easy access to the pleasures of a modern, young city.

Parks and Recreation in Langford

Goldstream Provincial Park


Just a few kilometres away from downtown Langford, the West Coast wonderland of Goldstream Provincial Park awaits! Home to the challenging trails of Mount Finlayson and the classic beauty of the Goldstream Trestle bridge, Goldstream Provincial Park is a favourite destination for people across Vancouver Island. Goldstream Provincial Park is especially popular in the autumn months, when people gather to watch thousands of salmon spawning up Goldstream River, which also attract the region’s impressive bald eagle population. Residents of Langford are just moments away from this incredible natural phenomenon!


City Centre Park and Langford Lake


City Centre Park is more than just an outdoor space; it holds all-things recreation in Langford. An arena, mini-golf course, splash park, and large stadium for soccer, football and hockey games make up this one-stop spot for fun and games. This park also houses Langford Lanes, a 10-pin bowling alley popular with residents across southern Vancouver Island. All of these modern facilities are located just steps away from beautiful Langford Lake, a peaceful spot for boating, fishing and swimming with a well-maintained trail running along the banks.


Schools in Langford


Langford lies within School District 62 Sooke, and is home to a variety of schools to help meet the needs of each individual student.

Millstream Elementary is located just steps away from the neighbourhood of Thetis Heights. Millstream Elementary teaches children from kindergarten to grade five, and offers a French immersion program.

Ecole John Stubbs Memorial also offers French immersion for both elementary and middle school students, teaching children from kindergarten to grade 8. It is located in South Langford, next to Royal Roads University, and offers a hockey academy for athletically-inclined students.

Belmont Secondary School is one of the newest schools in the Greater Victoria Area. It offers a variety of programs for students from grades 9 to 12, including cosmetology, trades opportunities, and French Immersion.

Shopping in Langford


Despite its close proximity to Victoria, Langford has become a shopping destination itself. Large national chain stores largely absent from downtown Victoria are easily accessible in Millstream Village, as well as grocery stores and family-friendly restaurants. Millstream also is home to the only Costco in the Greater Victoria area. Visitors and locals alike love Goldstream Avenue for its boutique shopping, coffee shops and restaurants. The largest shopping centre in Langford is found in the southern part of the city, at Westshore Town Centre, anchored by a conveniently-located Real Canadian Superstore. Since it is such a fast-growing community, shopping in Langford is constantly developing!
