Where are the best places to eat? Which schools serve which neighborhoods? They’re looking to you for guidance. In addition to being a tour guide, you must also know the local market inside and out. For example

- What will the market look like in the next six months?
- What are homes selling for in the local area?
To truly be successful in the real estate industry, you must be able to answer all your clients’ questions without missing a beat. The best way to do that is to follow these five steps.
1. GET INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY
If you’re already involved in your community – great! Be sure to share your affiliations on your website and anywhere else applicable. If you’re not involved, get involved. Whether it’s volunteering at the animal shelter, helping out with Habitat for Humanity, or mentoring a child through the Boys and Girls Club, you never know when your good deeds will spark a conversation with a business lead or partner.
2. CONNECT WITH LOCAL BUSINESSES
Your clients will likely ask for recommendations for area businesses. You can send them to the businesses you’ve connected with in return for the business owners sending clients your way. It’s a win-win for everyone.
3. TOUR YOUR COMMUNITIES
One of the best ways to become an expert in your local market is to know the neighborhoods it serves. Get out there and take a drive through the streets. Get to know the names of the streets themselves and note special things like parks, malls, and other gathering spots that you can tell your clients about when they ask.
4. UPDATE YOUR BLOG REGULARLY WITH LOCAL CONTENT
Clients often begin their searches online, which makes your website the best place to begin establishing yourself as a local real estate expert. Provide regular updates on your blog with local content like upcoming events, local news stories, etc. You don’t need to make a big deal or write a long post, just give people the reasons why the local community is such a great place.
5. STAY UP TO DATE ON MARKET TRENDS
Make yourself a great resource for your current and future clients by staying up to date on local market trends. You can update your blog with the current trends or send out monthly newsletters with the information. Staying apprised of and sharing current market trends showcases you as someone serious about his job and positions you as a local real estate expert in your community.
